CSA
After several years of delivering our shares to businesses and neighborhood groups throughout the Upper Valley we are moving to an on farm scheduled pick up system. I think the delivered share model is a great system, and hope to return to it in the future, but we are currently too small a farm to produce and sell enough shares support the cost of deliveries. To see our current schedule see our brochure, here
Community Supported Agriculture is a part of the fast growing local food movement. Originating in Japan in the '70s, it came to the US in the '80s. Very simply, a 'share' purchaser prepays the farmer to produce a seasons supply of vegetables and to share in that production. This gives the farmer the advantage of having funds to plant and grow the crops and to share the risk of weather and disease losses. For the shareholder it provides a fixed, discounted price for their season of vegetables, as well as the freshness and security of direct farm pickup.
